Russell Edgington Will Return in True Blood

Even though the continuing adventures of Sookie Stackhouse in True Blood season 4 are just beginning, plans are already underway for the next season of HBO’s hit series – plans that include the long-awaited return of Russell Edgington.

Speaking with Film School Rejects, Denis O’Hare confirmed that he will be returning as the one-time vampire king of Mississippi when the fifth season of True Blood begins. As a fan-favorite character – and one of the few positives to come out of True Blood season 3 – viewers have been wondering if/when Russell Edgington would break free from the underground cement prison that was supposed to house him for the next 100 years.

True Blood Recap: How Bill Became King

In the season 4 premiere of True Blood, the show jumped forward one year and we found out Bill is the new Vampire King of Louisiana. How did that happen, you ask? This week we find out, and we also get to enjoy Jason having his clothes ripped off, Eric taking a shirtless midnight stroll down the road and more naked Sam than you can shake a stick at.

Bill's flashbacks begin when Sookie shows up to see him, interrupting his violent sexual encounter with his coven spy Katerina. Sookie looks for some help getting rid of Eric, but King Bill can't do much. That sends us to our first flashback of the night, set in 1982 London.

Ten Things Sookie Missed While Hanging With the Faeries

True Blood’s Season 4 premiere was an eye-opening experience for Sookie (Anna Paquin) when she realized that what she believed was only about ten minutes in Fairyland was actually more than a year on earth. It was a well-played move by the producers to give the series a slight reboot and use Sookie as the means in which to guide us past it fairly seamlessly.

What Sookie learned to be true about Fairyland – that they were trying to collect all their earthbound fairy kin in order to cut itself off from earth – was only the tip of the iceberg. She would return to a much different Bon Temps where her friends believed she was dead and most had moved on with their lives.

Here are 10 things Sookie missed while she was fraternizing with fairies:

Alan Ball Reveals 9 Things about True Blood Season 4

In an interview with the Daily Beast, Alan Ball gave them 9 things about Season 4 to think about and they are below:

Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin)
“At the end of last season, Sookie shut the door on Bill, and I think, at least at the beginning of the season, that door is still very tightly shut,” said Ball. “She cannot forgive him for his lie, for him never being honest about why he was sent to meet her. Even though he clearly did fall in love with her and all of the things that he said and felt were every genuine and a lot of the things he did were to protect her, she just can’t get past that.”

Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgård)
As the books’ readers know, the predatory Eric Northman falls prey to amnesia, something that changes his outlook on life and the world in general… and likely will affect his strained relationship with his would-be paramour, Sookie. “As fans of the fourth book in the series know, when Eric gets amnesia he’s a different guy,” said Ball.
